Educators inspire students to positively contribute to and responsibly participate in the digital world. In our social studies class Junior year, we spent a unit discussing how to determine a reliable source and utilized a reliable sources guide when picking our resources. We then used these reliable, primary sources to conduct an exploratory lesson which encouraged students to brainstorm as a class to identify the event, time frame, or purpose of an image of a primary source in the form of a PowerPoint to accommodate online learners. This assignment established a learning culture that promoted curiosity and critical examination of online resources. In regard to modeling management of personal data and protecting student data privacy, all lesson plans developed during clinic had to be marked with “XX” in place of the client’s name. This ensured privacy and protection for the client and their family.
