Early Childhood-Grade 6 classroom teachers work to ensure high levels of learning, social-emotional development, and achievement outcomes for all students, taking into consideration each student’s educational and developmental backgrounds and focusing on each student’s needs. As a future Deaf education teacher, I am responsible for advocating for my Deaf students. In order to do so, I need to understand each student’s background, culture, strengths and needs, and most effective mode of communication. To prepare for this, I have completed several research articles on Deaf culture and advancements being made for the Deaf community. I have also completed a Deaf Culture Notebook in my clinic class in which I prepared lesson plans to educate others on Deaf culture, technology, sign systems, and accommodations for the Deaf.
